Spotlight on Learning: Summer of Joy Program

Thanks to a generous donation from Joe and Joy Jacques and the Schattner Foundation, teachers at New Hampshire Estates Elementary School built a team of specialists to deliver intensive, multisensory math and reading instruction to Title I multilingual first graders - including students who recently arrived in the United States.

For two children in the program, that support has been especially crucial: just one week before the program began, their fathers were detained by ICE. For this highly vulnerable population and their teachers, joyful learning in a safe, supportive environment is not only educational - it is life-sustaining.
