Abstract

Our nervous system sends messages to our body. It helps us to survive or thrive. When we are calm, we can connect and engage with others better; however, if we are in a hypervigilant state, we may respond with a "fight-or-flight" response. Student behaviors may also "trigger" our own nervous systems. As therapists, the more we understand ourselves, the better we can "show up" and support our clients. This training will provide a brief overview of the nervous system, how movement can help support the release of anxiety, improve our posture, and increase our awareness of how we respond to our students through facial expressions and even our voices. In addition, we will briefly look at the importance of understanding neuropsychological reports to better understand our students' behavioral history, so that we can provide the necessary interventions for success.

This event will NOT be recorded, be sure to join live.
