Through comprehensive support from donors, ASDEC has trained early educators, paraeducators, classroom teachers, SLPs, and reading specialists at New Hampshire Estates Elementary School (NHE), over the past three years, including during extended learning summer programs. As a result, k-2 students attending NHE in Silver Spring, MD have improved in reading, with some of the largest reading gains occurring among their special education students-17.7% and Emerging Language Learners - 26.3%

In contrast, scores from the same assessments for k-2 students in a nearby Title 1 school in Silver Spring showed negative growth for all but one subgroup. The demographics in each school are very similar but the difference is teacher training driven by ASDEC.

Many thanks to  our donors: Joy and Joe Jacques, The Schattner Foundation, The Butz Foundation and The Family Foundation.
