ASDEC Reading Fluency Program 2018

Program Dates: July 25 -August 3, 2018

This is an intensive, 48-hour camp designed to address reading disfluency in students who did not receive an adequate foundation in reading and spelling skills in elementary school. Students will:

• Receive pre- and post-assessments to measure progress

• Receive a brief, fascinating history of the English Language and its layers

• Learn/review accurate speech sounds linked with cursive letter formation instruction

• Learn a new method of blending letter sounds

• Learn/review the six types of syllables, with emphasis on open and vowel-consonant-silent-e syllable types

• Learn syllable division rules with ample practice dividing multi-syllable words into their component syllables

• Learn dozens of Greek and Latin morphemes

• Practice a structured procedure for spelling words of any length or complexity

• Learn about text structure (phrases, clauses), intonation, and prosody
